Pre-Disaster Mitigation Assistance Grant Program

The Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Administration announces the FY18 Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) grant application cycle. Funds are provided to reduce the risk to individuals and property from natural hazards, while also reducing reliance on federal funding from future disasters. Projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Infrastructure protective measures (including hazard-specific retrofit projects)
  • Utility protective measures (including hazard-specific retrofit projects)
  • Water and sanitary sewer system protective measures
  • Localized flood control to protect critical facilities
  • Floodwater storage and diversion
  • Floodplain and stream restoration
  • Storm water management
  • Aquifer storage and recovery
  • Wetland restoration/creation

Eligible Applicants: Federally-recognized Native American Tribal governments, and state governments (all other applicants are considered sub-applicants under the state or Tribal application.

Award Ceiling: $200,000 per applicant (which includes all sub-applicants)

Match: 25 percent
