Pinehurst Square Shopping Center

Pinehurst Square, a 55-acre retail center in Bismarck, North Dakota, presented a very unique and challenging project for KL&J. KL&J was hired by the developer, Woodmont Company, to replace the original Civil/Site consultant. This presented a very demanding timeline requirement to satisfy the client as the preliminary site grading was already underway and deadlines with liquidated damages were looming from major retailers.

KL&J had two immediate tasks. The first task was to redesign the site grades since the original design did not meet the requirements of some of the retailers, particularly Best Buy and PetSmart. The second task, which took place concurrently, was to complete the traffic impact study for the site. This traffic impact study took intense coordination not only with the City of Bismarck, but also with the North Dakota Department of Transportation as the site was located adjacent to a major on/off ramp from Interstate 94.

Upon successfully completing the two initial tasks to the satisfaction of the retailers and the NDDOT, KL&J completed the remaining design for the on-site and off-site requirements.
